It’s Back!

After a couple of years without Cosmo League fixtures it was great to finally get the show back on the road. In true a Harry Redknapp fashion a few clubs have put the band back together while others have done a 'Nottingham Forest' - one thing is for certain the league is going to be an interesting one this year. Vikings and GSAS held the honour of kicking off the 22/23 season and did not diasappoint - A raucous Viking gathering cheered their team on to a healthy 2-0 half time lead but a spirted GSAS group pegged the men in red back to level things up with 20 min remaining. There was certainly a nervousness in the air on both benches as the minutes ticked away, however it was Vikings who kept the calmest as they came out on top with Meli scrambling a late winner.

OGS and Nippon battled out a nine goal thriller which finally went the way of the French team 5-4. Conditions were extremely hot and the constant movement of the Nippon team will certainly pose many teams difficulty in the coming weeks, while the quality of intricate passing and finishing power of OGS will be exciting to watch and tough to stop. 1TM Latini and Hotspurs gave everything in their first game and reports suggest it was a very evenly matched affair - goals from Saurin and Taylor ultimately decided the outcome with Hotspurs not managing to find a response.  In the 'Battle of the Green' it was substitute Alan Donoghue who proved the difference as his two second half goals saw Gaelic run out 3-0 victors over Hibs.

All in all it was a great first round of games which appeared to be enjoyed immensely by both players and supporters. Special thanks to all the officials who have also missed out on games during the past couple of years, please remember it is a tough gig and without them our games would not be possible.

Until next time!
