Thirsty work

Gaelics took on Hotspurs at their new ground, UWC Tampines for one of two Friday night fixtures last week. Gaelics without a win in four, and Hotspurs looking for their first win of the season would likely see both teams going hard at one another for the three points. Hotspurs falling victim to a Lions backlash after half time. Hotspurs would have to wait, with maximum points going to the Irish outfit, and a nice start at their new ground. Brett Bowman picking up a brace. FT – 5-1.

The other Friday fixture saw Casuals play host to 1 TM Latini, both teams losing their previous weeks fixture. Both teams in the top half of the table would be looking to keep pace with the leaders with a win. End to end stuff, physicality, long range efforts and great goal keeping the order of the day. Latini pushing hard and getting the win, Luke Townsend with two to his name. A nasty sounding injury to Cosmo stalwart ‘Pep’, wishing him well and hope he is making a speedy recovery!

Hibs on a good run with back to back wins in their previous two and looking to keep that momentum going, took on GSAS at the enormous PSA pitch. Plenty of chances for either side. GSAS up against it, one nil down and playing with 10 men for most of the match, rallied and fought hard for the victory, the kind of win that will give any team a huge amount of confidence moving forward.

Vikings took on TGA Rangers for the 5pm Turf City fixture. The prelude to the match, TGA Legends taking on their Vikings counterparts in a Vets league encounter. The latter taking the victory 2-0, advantage to Vikings. A see-saw affair and literally a game of two halves ensued. TGA with four goals in the first half, 4-0 at half time, without some fantastic goal keeping it could have been a lot more for both teams. Vikings rallied and put on an excellent second half display, unfortunately for them it wasn’t enough. TGA running out eventual winners and taking all three points.

Special thanks to Vikings, whom put on what seemed like an endless amount of Viking beer! Great to see both sets of supporters and players mingling, showing fantastic Cosmo League spirit after two battles on the pitch.

The final game of the day, saw a mouth-watering encounter at Dempsey. SCC taking on OGS, always a close game between these two. This one being no different, with the added spice of Kike Sanchez transferring to OGS during the summer break. Sounds like a tense affair, with action all over the park from start to finish. SCC taking the spoils, Liam Shotton breaking French hearts with a hattrick. Special mention to Brad for a well-managed affair.

A full compliment of fixtures this weekend, good luck to everyone involved.
