Starting to take shape

Last weekend saw some very interesting match ups, par for the course these days with the way the Cosmo is shaping up this year.

Friday night lights saw Casuals take on Aioli PM. Aioli looking to put their season back on track with some disappointing set backs in previous weeks. Casuals looking to push on after their win over the Lions the week before. Aioli the faster of the two out of the blocks, 3-0 up after 30 mins. No doubt the game was closer than the score line reflects. However, The Monkeys ran out eventual winners, taking those extremely valuable three points in the process. Mark Addy picking up a brace.

With a win against the Vikings the previous week, 1TM Latini took on Hibs, looking to keep pace at the top. Hibs looking a stronger outfit this term, putting in some solid performances thus far. With a bit of seesaw affair, sounds like this game had everything - misfortune, individual brilliance and luck. Hibs breaking Latini hearts with a late winner. The game ending 3-2.

With no win against their name this season, Nippon had the unenviable task of taking on The Gaelic Lions, whom were also looking for a crucial win, having won only one out of their last four. It seems both will have to wait until their next fixture for three points. The match ending in a stalemate, with a point a piece. FT 1-1.

Another team looking for their first win of the season - Hotspurs, whom took on GSAS. GSAS must be pleased with their start this year. Last week saw GSAS involved in an 11 goal thriller against OGS. This week was a slightly more low-key affair, in terms of goals. It ended in a hard fought draw, leaving Hotspurs hanging on for that elusive first win of the season.

Final match of the day, Dempsey at 5pm, where SCC welcomed the Vikings. A physical and hard-fought battle ensued, with chances at either end, with some terrific saves from both GKs. As they so often do, SCC dug deep and came up with the goods. Dominic O’Shea settling things, 1-0 it finished to the defending champions.

Good luck to all the teams involved this weekend!
