Report

Lush overcast conditions greeted Latini and BHFC on Saturday as the two lined up in the replay of the waterlogged match 2 weeks prior. The returning TBS was thrown straight in at RM, Bignell was deployed in a very very deep no 10 role and Woody was back for a rare appearance at fullback which allowed Pep to play in an unfamiliar position of Centre back. To say Latini were quick out the blocks was a bit of an understatement as we moved the ball around with purpose and dominated possession. When we didn’t have the ball we pressed high and fast to win it back. Scoring was opened in a rather fortunate way for Latini as TBS looped in an over hit cross (not sure there was any Latini bodies in the box anyway) which found its way into the top corner. 1 nil became 3 in the blink of an eye, Duplo scored a quick fire brace from 2 Raver assists. 1 stealing a march near post from a corner and the 2nd rounding the keeper nicely when put through 1 on 1. Latini had a few chances to add to the scoring before half time, but Lego, Duplo and Dozen all missed glaring chances. HT 3-0. After a dominate 1st half there was always going to be a spell of Hotspurs pressure, which duly came in the opening of the 2nd half. Hotspurs nicked a goal back and provided some hope when their striker smashed home from close range. Latini put their foot back on the gas in the final quarter and put the result beyond doubt with Duplo completing his hattrick before JT and Mooney added further to the score line. FT 6-1. Overall a very impressive display again by Latini who have timed some good form perfectly with the Xmas break… Cheers for Hotspurs for the game and good luck for the season. MOM Latini – Duplo for netting a nice trick MOM Hotspurs – Keeper for making a few nice saves. Kit: - JT

Nightmare start sinks Spurs

It was a tough day at the office to say the least for Hotspurs on Saturday as a ruthless Latini side took full advantage of their opponents in key periods of the match. Hotspurs certainly started the game slowly...in fact, I'd be surprised if a BHFC side has ever found itself 3-0 down after 5 minutes! A fluke from a cross, a defensive error, and a soft goal from a corner all combining to give Latini the very early commanding lead, which could have been greater but for a couple of outstanding saves from Matt Shoult between the sticks. Fortunately Hotspurs were able to rally though, and after the early wake-up call they managed to keep a confident Latini at bay while also carving out a few chances of their own. It was indeed Hotspurs who struck next to claw a goal back in the second half- a smart cross from Lionel from the left finding Macca in the 6-yard box to fire it home and make it 3-1. After BHFC briefly looked like they may have found a way back into the match though, it was Latini who had the last laugh, scoring three on the break in quick succession as their opponents tried to chase down the lead. Soundly beaten on the day, but Hostpurs will take heart from the way they regrouped and bounced back from such a difficult start to the game.
