We took on the reigning champions Latini for our first Friday night fixture of the season. With many injuries plaguing the team as well as work commitments, we welcomed some new players to the squad and thanks to Anatole's recruitment skills we were able to come up with 14 men ( you might want to consider recruiting Anatole ;) ) We knew that it was not going to be an easy game and we prepared the team tactically. Our intention was to limit damage as much as possible whilst taking our chances when they presented themselves. Nonetheless, Latini started strong early on in the game and dominated the first half. 3- 0 at half time with 3 headers. In the second half, we played much better: more compact with more possession but we could not be decisive despite managing to score 1 goal following a free kick from JB well followed by Rodri. Latini had 2 chances and were surgical, sealing the victory with a 5-1 win. Heads up OGS, we can do a lot better! Full credit to Latini who looks unstoppable this season with some solid tempo, solid football and solid squad. best of luck for the rest of the season.
Match Day 6 for 1TM and another game under the Friday Night Lights (FNL). This time our opponents were Olympique Gaulois. Due to injuries and selfish holidays, Tactical Tally managed to scrape a solid but small squad for this fixture. 1TM quickly settled into the game and looked strong in all areas of the pitch. After a couple of half chances, the first goal came after 10 minutes when a Rat Rig ball to the back post was headed back across goal by Didge and managed to squeeze into the net. Our second came on 32 minutes when a great ball over the top from Racky was latched onto by Sharples. He took a touch to set himself and made no mistake with the finish. 2-0 The constant menace, Duplo, almost got the goal he deserved after he drove forwards and unleashed an absolute rocket that smashed the underside of the bar. Duplo reacted first and chased down his effort but his header was tipped away with a wonder save by the OG ’keeper. We managed to score a third just before halftime when Frando rose highest to meet Rat Rig’s corner and connected with a powerful header. 3-0. To be fair to OG, they never stopped and fought until the last minute. We didn’t find the same rhythm as the first half but did manage to score a fourth when Sharples dribbled inside and then laid it back to Rat Rig who was standing on the edge of the area. Rat Rig’s eyes lit up and he curled a lovely effort to the far post, away from the ‘keeper’s dive and got a third defender on the score sheet. It should have been a deserved clean sheet, but a free kick on the edge of the box wasn’t dealt with by POB and the OG forward following in had a comfortable finish. 4-1 1TM extended our lead when the ball was passed back to the OG keeper and Sharples quickly closed him down. The ball broke to Crabs 40 yards out and he lofted the ball high towards the empty net which then dropped just under the bar. Great finish for 5-1. OG had one last effort before the final whistle when their full back delivered the ball to the back post which was met on the volley by the OG winger. POB was able to atone for his earlier gaff with a good tip over the bar. Final score 5-1 Big thanks to the OG team for a fair game and credit for their effort for the full 90. Thanks to Alex and his team and to Hiro San, Ruby, Default Dez and Sharples Snr for coming down to support. OG MOM - Dani Pardon 1TM DOD - ‘Captain’ Rat Rig 1TM MOM - Didge Balls - Rat Rig Kit - ?
