A Winning Start!!

After a much needed summer break after what seemed like the longest season in History, Hotspurs returned to Cosmoleague action against the Vikings at Turf City. The weather was fairly mild for the 3pm KO which saw a game played in a very competitive and fast pace, with little time for either team to get on the ball and slow things down. Into the second half and the pattern of the match continued. Hotspurs finally broke the deadlock through a well worked routine, Lionel with the long throw, Ali with the flick on, and JD expertly timing his run to score a diving header into the far corner. A carbon copy a few mins later saw Ali hit the post with another flick. Lando had a further chance to wrap up the points after going round the keeper but Vikings scrambled to safety. In truth, both teams could play much better, but from Hotspurs point of view a winning start will do very nicely!!! Thanks to Vikings for a competitive, well fought game. MOM to Mele for Vikings who was a constant danger as usual, MOM to Oli H for Hotspurs who had a great game at Left Back.
