No luck for Redbull and GSAS at F1 weekend

There's always an uneasy feeling looking at next week's game and seeing you're up against Latini, especially when again 9 players missing compared to previous weeks. Thankfully this season we got some support from our overseas student, as well as Joe returning from injury, and a couple of new players, so we could still say we had 14 actual football players (unlike last time where the result was 11:1)...and they were actually not doing too bad. From beginning on GSAS was pretty compact and doubling Sharples made it pretty difficult for Latini to cut through. And whenever they were able to, Nicolas was there, saving our asses multiple times over the 90min with it's spectacular reflexes and saves. Latini got increasingly frustrated and after some resulting concentration mistakes, even allowed us some chances, which we unfortunately weren't able to convert. 0:0 at halftime, a couple of changes on our side, but game continued as it ended with GSAS solid in the back and an increasingly nervous Latini. It was after 60min when after a freekick, the Latini striker pushed our defender - in an angle difficult to spot for Jonathan - and made best use of the gained space to extend the ball with his head in the upper right corner, no chance foe Nicolas. After this slight disappointment, the last 5% were missing to still be able to keep up with the enormous offensive quality of Latini and the following 2 goals were a logical consequence. Nonetheless, great performance and attitude against the current chanpion and from my perspective odds-on favorite for this season's championship as well. Thanks to Latini for a very fair game (not a single card) and to Jonathan and team for a great ref performance. Man of the Match goes to Nicolas for once again showing that he's the best keeper of the league, Dick of the Day goes to Mansur for 2 wrong through-ins within 10 minutes.

A 5pm kickoff when the Formula 1 is in town is always going to test your squad depth and that proved to be the case as Tactical Tally had to assemble a squad without several key players. Thankfully, he worked his magic by convincing a lot of the boys that the Kings of Leon wouldn’t start on time and their new stuff just isn’t that good. After a 2-2 draw with the German-Swiss All Stars during preseason, we knew that this would be another stern test so everyone was needed. The first half played out as the preseason match did with 1TM having the majority of possession and carving out a few good opportunities. The All Stars’ defence held firm, in particular the young ‘keeper, who made a couple of decent stops to deny our frontline. At times, there was some fluidity missing from our play which allowed the German-Swiss to have a couple of their own half chances. In the end, honours even at half time was just about right. HT 0-0 The game continued in the same way as the first half with both sides having a couple of sights of goal. 1TM played some nice football with Ruby, Tinks and Lego beginning to pull the strings more and more. It was from a set piece that eventually broke the deadlock on 60 minutes. Dev lofted a good ball into the box and Flat White used his strength to win the header and flick it into the far top corner. 1-0 Buttons and Josh were introduced to freshen up our attack and there was an immediate impact on 65 minutes when Josh slipped in Sharples and went through 1v1 with the keeper, he finished coolly to double our lead. With the All Stars pushing for a way back into the game, there was a bit more space for us to exploit. Sharples was unlucky not to add to his goal tally but was denied by an excellent save. On 87 minutes, we finally managed to get the third after good work from Buttons, Josh fed Gerbil wide of the area. Gerbil drove to the bi line and his cut back provided a simple finish for Sharples to score the winner. FT 3-0 Well played German-Swiss All Stars. It was a competitive game and played in the right spirit. Thanks to the 1TM Legends for the loan of the away kit and cheers to the lads who delayed their F1 experience to turn out for the club. MOM GSAS - Nico (GK) MOM 1TM - Tinks somehow DOD 1TM - Flat White
