A well fought game!

3 pm kick off game under good conditions! OGS started the game slowly trying to control the game with couples of mistakes allowing Hotspurs to take more confidence. After 20 min of an even game, OGS started to take the control of the game despite few attempts through free kicks and corners from hotspurs that got nicely deflected by our keeper. The 2nd consecutive corner saw ifan jumping ahead of the Spurs defense and strike a nice header the keeper couldn’t catch. Couple of shots from JB got nicely deflected by the Hotspurs keeper and referee called the half time. OGS changed system at half time with 3 players coming in. Hotspurs started to put more pressure on, and OGS fought hard to accomodate the new system in place. At water break, OGS switched back to original line up with Ifan coming back to midfield. The last 10min were tensed and saw Ifan going out after a contact with his right ear bleeding and potential concussion!! As a soldier, he came back to the pitch with his usual fighting spirit. Last minute free kick got deflected by the wall and the ref put an end to the game!!! OGS got back home with 3 important points in a well contested game!!! Thxs to Hotspurs for the game and good luck for the rest of the season!

A Tough Loss

Hotspurs took on OGS at Turf City at 3pm looking to bounce back after the loss to Latini. Again, numbers were a little light for Hotspurs but we had a strong squad regardless. The first half was very even, with neither side managing to create many clear chances and the game dominated by midfield fouls which slowed the tempo. OGS took the lead from a corner, a disappointing one to concede from Hotspurs POV. HT 1-0 OGS. Hotspurs started the second half well, and set up camp in the OGS half dominating possession from the outset. The chances eventually came to Hotspurs - Ali hit the bar, Ruffles hit the post and JD had one cleared off the line. Some injuries meant that a constant reshuffling of positions stemmed the flow and in the end OGS hung on for the win. Credit to them for defending their lead well and restricting the number of the chances. Hotspurs MOM goes to Tom Hine, a great shift in multiple positions returning from injury - and the birth of his son! OGS MOM goes to Ifan who was strong in midfield and even came back on with his head bandaged up to finish the game.
