Unlucky loss despite a strong performance in difficult weather

5 pm kick-off vs Hibs, following a win against Hotspurs, everyone from GSAS was pumped up to put on a show. Then it started to rain and rain and didn't stop. The pitch was heavy to play against a well organized and strong opponent that is having a strong season. Nevertheless GSAS field a strong team with newcomer Sam making an impact straight away. The game was pretty even with both having a decent amount of possession (shit game to be honest, just kicking and overrunning the ball every time it got stuck in the water, bet British lads started to miss their home at that moment). One of our attacks resulted in a great ball by Marius behind the defense, where Hamza bulldoze his way through a couple of challenges and scored a great goal from a tight angle. 1-0 at half time. In the second half, both teams were trying to play better football with pitch drying up a bit and felt like GSAS had some better chances early in the second half. Hibs played well too and starting to come back little by little (once again proving that our fitness is one of our major weaknesses). Hibs scored eventually one on the counter and scored one more 10 minutes before the end of the game. GSAS responded with several good chances from Arno, Sam, and Alex but couldn't find the back of the net. Better luck next game and hope for better weather next week. We thank Hibs for a hard and fair game, and referee and his team who did an excellent job.

Soggy Win

Hibs got back to winning ways with a come from behind win over GSAS with goals from Dan and Julio. The first half was difficult to play in with some areas of the pitch not allowing the ball to roll. Hibs still managed to fashion some good chances with some nice interplay. An Rui hit the cross-bar after good work on the edge on the box, Thorin stabbed a couple of chances wide and Dan lifted a shot just over. GSAS took the lead though after Joey's quick free-kick was cut out and then Hamza bundled through Panda's tackle but still had a tight angle and lots to do to beat Colin, but it was a vicious strike with the outside of his foot that clipped the post and went in. Hibs continued to probe for an opening but 0-1 was how the teams went into the half-time break. Two changes and a message to keep playing as the pitch drying was going to suit Hibs and the chances would come. Joey charged forward from full-back and found An Rui who played Dan in and in typical fashion, the number 9 found the net for the equaliser. Hibs continued to search for more openings and GSAS were a threat on the break. Buffy and Bolts came on to add more attacking threat, but Hibs had to be alert as GSAS were strong in the air and one free header sailed wide. Julio picked up a loose ball on the edge of the area and he hit a shot that the keeper will be disappointed he didn't do better with and Hibs had the lead with 6 to play. Hibs had one scare when a another header drifted wide, but secured the win to go level on points with the second placed teams. Hamza was MoM for GSAS for a great finish for his goal and powerful running and Urs was happy he got two extra footballs
