Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder

I have been on the batter for three full days. I am clinically dead. 40,000 feet in the air, basically OD’ing on sleeping tablets to try make the 14 hour flight a 4 hour flight.. I log in to KLM’s shitty in-flight Wi-Fi and check my whatsapp. It looks initially like we have beaten Rangers 4-1 in the cup but then I remember that I have most likely OD’d and I am simply tripping off my box so I put my phone away, pull the hoodie down over my face again and go back to sleep. I have no memory of what happened after that.

1st Half Knockout

Rangers started the game looking like they’d walked out to the pitch in 40 pound gimp suits. Legs looked gone. No excuses though. The deadlock was broken by a very well taken goal from Petesy as he found space coming off the wing and Rangers stood of, he stroked the ball high past the keeper with his left peg. The second goal came as a seemingly nothing ball over the top resulted in a mix up between the CB and keeper that allowed the Gaelic striker to poke a toe in and pass into an empty net. The 3rd came from a tame free kick straight at the Rangers keeper, with the sharp Gaelic striker the only player not surprised to see the keeper drop the ball at his feet. Well anticipated from the lad who spent the rest of the match speaking to himself with intermittent bouts of what was marginally too eloquent to be Tourette's. The 4th came just before the end of the half as Rangers thought it best to stick our smallest player on Churchy who took advantage to head home from a free kick. A better 2nd half performance saw Rangers create some chances, albeit they couldn’t claim to have laid siege to the Gaelic goal. The Irish remained well organised and kept things tight, seeing out the job. Young Vic had a couple of good headed chances from 6 yard out but he must have heard about the recent school kid ban on heading a ball as his head retreated into his neck. A really bad moment in the game saw Rich and Matt both compete for the ball and both come off with bad injuries. We hope Matt recovers well from his wrist break, all the best mate! Rich ended up with a shiner that even had Big Al wincing. Churchy and the young right back had great games keeping it tight at the back. Rangers got 1 back with a penalty following a handball. Good luck to Gaelic lads in the knockout phase!
