Report

A difficult day for OG as predicted against one of our bogey team despite a solid 16 players. OG started well by keeping the ball moving around but Germans were clinical and took the lead from their first incursion into our box. Quirin was the fastest to react on the ball that bounced in front of the goal after a deflected free kick. OG reacted well by created numerous chance but was denied either by lack of efficiency or some great defending. Ultimately GSAS lacked focus on a defensive move which Remi well converted to level up. We kept pushing and hit the cross bar twice but could find the back of the net before the break. 1-1 GSAS played some better football boosted by a good 1st half performance and created more trouble in the second. Ultimately they took the lead just after the water break with their midfielders dribbling way too many player in the midfield of the park and ultimately released a perfect ball through for their striker to score. Fortunately we came back a few minutes later from a great free kick from Kike. Again a few minutes later after a good phase, the ball was crossed into the box, and cleared onto Iss who had time to control and release a low kick from just outside the box to give us the lead. We then suffered for the last 15min. GSAS had most of the possession and were creating a lot of troubles on free kick and corners. On the other end we had some good quick counter attacked that could have saved us from a painful end of the game, but we never managed to convert them. On the last kick of the game, Kike converted a penalty to make it a faltering result.

Match report vs OG

After losing 7-4 in the first round GAS were determined to get the better of OG. OG started well by controlling the midfield while GAS were defending for the first 10-15 minutes. On one of the rare GAS attacks the free kick was given to GAS, few meters outside the box. Viktor has his effort blocked by the wall and after some scramble the ball fell to Quirin just inside the box. Quirin who missed many games this season through traveling didn’t show any rust and unleashed a powerful shot with keeper unable to react. As GAS thought this could be it, defensive misunderstanding allowed Remy to pounce and lift the ball over Joe for the equaliser. OG then had more chances and hit the post at least twice before the break. Second half started with OG dominating the possession once again but this time GAS having more threat going forward. Shortly after the water break Quirin brought the ball from the right wing and slid it through the defenders for Dee to finish past the keeper. The lead lasted 2 minutes at most. After series of unfortunate defending OG had an indirect free kick just outside the box. Kike stepped up, converted it from his teammates Long and slow pass/touch which GAS players should have charged, but found themselves frozen for the moment. GAS then stepped it up and started to play some decent Football by passing well and pressuring OG players in their half. GAS didn’t manage to score and OG hit twice on the counter ending the encounter 4-2 in their favour. Overall despite losing the game there are some positives to take away from this game against an opponent in top half of the table. If GAS plays with tenacity and conviction surely we can climb up the table in the last 5 games.
