Report

Poor end to a great season

This match report will be about as Dull as the game from an SCC point of few. The game started well for SCC, creating a few great opportunities in the first twenty minutes, but were out done by some great saves from the Lions keeper who had just returned from a short spell competing with Brock Lesnar, Aj Styles and Nia Jax at the recent WWE championship. After the first twenty minutes, SCC decided that they would rather focus on the two bottle of Moet that they had just purchased to celebrate an unbeaten season. This unbeaten run wasn’t to be as the Lions scored a great goal in the second half to secure a 1-0 victory. Lot’s to reflect on from SCC and many changes to made for the upcoming cup final this weekend. TI$ of the day does to Chris Day who leaves for Luxemburg, you’ll be missed.

Dare to dream.....

The term "invincibles" has been used to refer to the great Preston North End team of the 1880's, the Arsenal team of the 2003-04 season and most recently the Celtic team of the 2016-17 season. Before that of course we had Broadford Rovers under-11's from Ballinteer in Sth. County Dublin who not only went unbeaten in the 1981-'82 season they also didn't even concede a goal! And what about Mrs. Miggin's United from the 2am night time KO baker's league in Sheffield? They went unbeaten in 1996-'97 season and they played in the fuckin dark! SCC Firsts had the opportunity to join this elite group of teams when they faced the Gaelic Lions on Saturday at Dempsey. The chance to join that group of teams, the only five teams that have ever done it, ever, ever. The pressure was immense building up to this seismic event, the air was thick with anticipation. Imagine the possibility of being able to join that elite group of teams? I mean, come on. IMAGINE IT. I am imagining it right now, still as I type this. And I am still doing it. I can't get it out of my head. It was a typically rain-sodden Dempsey pitch which greeted the two teams. The threat of thunder and lighting never far away but the game duly kicked off with the Gaelic Lions having their usual 93% possession for the first 45 uneventful minutes. It was a typical top of the table clash, with two teams at the top of the table playing football against each other. The ball didn't roll properly in certain areas of the pitch, which suited SCC's kick and run rugby style gameplan but even with the conditions aligned with their vision it was the Lions who were creating all the chances. Around about the 20 minute mark, there was a small break in play when the police had to come on to the pitch as Hulen had been reported for attempted murder, but it was reduced to attempted manslaughter and he was allowed to play on. There was a constant faint gnashing sound in the background, which was puzzling the sane people. Nobody could quite work it out, the rumour was it was Tim eating raw meat for his lunch in the jungle but this was never proven. Around about the hour mark the Lions scored the winner, from the unlikeliest of sources - a goal from outfield play. Then Hutch fell into a puddle and we all splashed him and laughed and he went mental and we all ran away because he is Scottish. The referee blew the final whistle to end the constant Lions pressure and alas for SCC the dream of joining the elite group of global world football forces was gone. There is always next year. Or the season after that, perhaps. All kidding and joking aside congrats to SCC on a great season and best of luck in the cup final. Equally, best of luck to Rangers as it would be weird to give one team good luck and not the other. We wish both teams good luck. I hope that is clear. MOM for the Lions is Brett and MOM for SCC is Ronny, who was so busy all day saving all of Brett's shots. So, so busy.
