Hangover versus Hibs

Our worst performance of the season. We were flat before the game and hoped we could spark in to life after last week’s cup exit, however we were lethargic and our play was littered with mistakes, one leading to Hibs first goal. We gave the ball away on the edge of our own area after 5 minutes and the Hibs striker finished with aplomb. We pressed more to get an equaliser but lost the ball again, this time outside Hibs area, a quick long ball and counter saw us two goals down with over an hour to play. The best moment of the half for Latini was POB’s world class one handed save to keep us in the game before half time. We picked up after the 2nd half and Rory A scored from the penalty spot. We enjoyed more possession but couldn’t break down Hibs defence. In the closing minutes we left ourselves exposed at the back and Hibs sealed the victory, final score 3-1. Congrats to Hibs for their deserved win. We need to pick ourselves up for our final few games or risk a disappointing end to the season. Hibs Show Up

Hibs picked up a deserved 3 points against a good Latini side with Jordan and a Thorin brace sealing a much needed win. The scoring started with Leo generously squaring a pass to start a counter on 5 minutes and with Latini spread out, Jordan got his first goal for the team from the edge of the area in his last game of the season for us. That gave Hibs a lot of confidence and despite losing Jordan to injury on 7 minutes, Niko came on and nearly scored. Hibs restricted Latini to long-range pops and Thorin doubled the advantage from a man of the match, Joey, pass that caught Latini high. With the ref sticking to his word that he didn’t want to show any cards, both sides tried to test the boundaries and, to be fair, he meant what he said and stuck to it to everyone’s surprise as Talbot had a ball dropped-kicked at him at point-blank after he won a throw-in in a comical moment. We may need a copy of the recording of this game from the Latini videographer on the touch-line to re-live this and some other special moments. Hibs were up 2-0 at HT. Latini huffed and puffed but Cek in goal was only really troubled by Niko smashing into him. Roger was a little harshly penalised for a tap on the ankle to concede a penalty and Rory scored. Hibs went on to have numerous chances to put the game out of sight. Thorin hit the post, forced a great one on one save and Julio lifted over in the best chances. The in-form Thorin put the game out of reach with a half-volley in the area with around 10 minutes to go. Andy started the move with a great cross field ball and Julio then teed up Hibs’ top scorer. MoM for Latini goes to Leo who was their biggest threat although Shaz dealt with him well.
