Report

With SCC not playing for two weeks since the 7-0 victory in the cup, we were all fired up to get back on track to maintain top of the league. A few regular players missing this gave a good opportunity for 3 SCC youth academy players to step up and be part of the first team. As the first half got under way we always knew it wasn’t going to be an easy game with Hotspurs been physical and organised but it was the wee Scotsman that broke the deadlock from a great flowing move on the right wing cutting the ball back only to finish in off the post. Hotspurs weren’t going down without a fight though pulling a goal back not long after from a good counter attacking move 1-1. Mr Hutch got his 2nd of the day just before half time bouncing on goal keeper fumble from a cross/shot. 2-1 As Hotspurs were causing us problems with there high defensive line and pressing up the pitch the manager recognised this and decided to change tactics and play a 4-3-3, Mourinho would of been proud. As a result to the change of formation SCC were having more success in the 2nd half having more possession and creating lots of chances, but it was Mr hutch’s day has he completed his hat trick with another good 1 touch, 2 touch passing move. 3-1 Liam added to the scoreline not long towards the end of the game finishing in the bottom corner. Tough Defeat for Hotspurs

Hotspurs went into Saturday's game against knowing that it would be as tough as it always is against SCC- and their opponents didn't disappoint on this occasion either. Two first-half goals from SCC- one just before drinks, and one on the stroke of half-time- were cruelly timed for Hotspurs, who had been defending strongly and counter-attacking well when the opportunities presented themselves. Tommy Greene also managed to bag himself his first of the season with really smart first touch and finish after being put through by marauding wing-back James Keane. 2-1 to SCC at the break. SCC made it difficult for Hotspurs in the second half though, and they added two smart goals to their tally as the darkness loomed at Dempsey- taking full advantage of the more open game, and making the most of some tiring Hotspurs legs which had worked very hard up to that point. Congratulations to SCC on a well-deserved win, but lots of positives to take from the Hotspurs side as well. Well done to Iggy and Keano who ran each other very close for man of the match. Onwards and upwards to an important run-in to Christmas, but firstly a rare week off next weekend to rest those legs.
