Until the last minute we were not sure the game will take place. Finally, ref gives the green light and coach Simon finish his team talk while the Vikings are already lined up waiting for us. Overall, a very clean and enjoyable game. OG managed to step up in second half to wrap the victory, but credit to Vikings who show some good stuff on the pitch and proved again to be a hard team to beat. OG started strong for the first 5min just like we did against SCC with a few incursions in Vikings defense either with combination on the right between bastos and our number 16 (left footed guy) or via Ouss on the left wing with some individual skills. A good cross from bastos was the first warning for Vikings, shoot was well block by the keeper, then Bastos followed up but keeper did well to get back on his feet and prevent the goal from a thigh angle. The following 25min was a close matter between 2 teams focusing on closing space at the back. OG struggled to make the best of our moves by miss passing or wrong choices in the last 30metres. Vikings were doing their best using long balls on the wings and were a big threat on set pieces. Fortunatly for us, Ouss opened the score around the 30th minute following a good move that saw Sam, clinically crossing to the second post for the unmarked Ouss, who made no mistake to header the ball in. Keeper could only touch it. 1-0 HT. Second half was another close story. Vikings tried to come back in the game but OG was holding strong and was slowly getting the control of the ball. Spaces started to open in Vikings lines. Simon brought some fresh legs early in second half which paid off when on a counter attack, Sam found the number 16 on the left. He dodges his direct opponent and found newcomer Andy between 2 defender. Andy cut back in to avoid the defender coming back and finished with his left foot. 2-0. OG though it was over but Vikings reminded us once again that it is never the case. Minutes later from another corner and poor clearance, the ball ends up at the back of our net. Fortunately for us Sam was on a good day and combination between our forward line started to get smooth. On another ball recovered by Max K at the back, he quickly released Sam on the left wing. Sam beat his opponent to find the number 16 who managed to get unmarker around the 6 yard box to finish with the inside of his boots. Finally his first goal of the seaon! This time Vikings could not recover. OG added another one similar to the previous one. Quick move on the left, low cross to the second post for Ouss to easuly tap in and wrap up the victory. Overall a very good display against a team we really struggled against 2 months ago. Very promising for the up coming game if we can keep this spirit. A bit too much talking at time but definitely way better. MOM Gaulois: Many contestant again. Sam for a brace of assists, Ouss for a brace of goal, the number 16 for 1 assist and 1 goal. But today the glories goes to Max K for another solid display at the back, today and in the past weeks too. MOM Vikings: Their tall number 13 in midfield. Really athletic player that caused us some trouble during the 1st hour. We also wish a quick recovery to their central back that seemed to get a nasty torn muscle.

Another Cup defeat to the French

Late on Friday evening the Vikings take on Olympic Gaulois. After some rain and lightning the game finally kicks off with a 15 minutes delay. Vikings starts in a 3-5-2. The first half is without much heart, pace and energy from the Vikings. After 35 mins OG scores to 1-0. After a few short passes the ball gets flicked into the penalty box. An OG player is wide open and easily scores on a header. Coach Østergaard was angry in the half time break and asked for more Viking spirit and commitment. Vikings made a good start to the second half but without converting the extra effort into goals. The OG midfield and central defenders managed to keep a strong defensive formation throughout the game and keep the Vikings from big chances. Skriver comes on for Jesper Hansen. After 70 minutes Elbo gets an injury and gets swapped for Lasse. OG takes immediate advantage of the change in defense and scores on a through ball from the left side which leaves the OG striker wide open - 2-0. Vikings get a corner kick and after a few tackles the ball ends up with Panda and he somehow manages to put the ball in the net, 2-1 for OG. Vikings try to bounce back but OG gets another free run towards goal and scores easily to 3-1. Karl Martin comes on for Leslie. Vikings are not able to respond and allows OG to score the final goal, again an easy finish from the OG striker. Final result 4-1 for OG. Thank you to the supporters, OG and the referees for a fair game.
