Crab Football

It was disappointing we didn't manage to get anything out of this game. The first half was very even. We had a great opportunity that Dan missed after a miscued Hotspurs header put him through. Hotspurs also had a decent chance to take the lead when one of their players went round Tommy but ran out of room. Mostly though, both sides struggled to create chances. The idea for the second half was try to stop going to pieces in the final third, because otherwise we were playing well. But it was Hotspurs who found a moment of quality straight after the break, Roseburgh playing a quick one-two, not getting tracked, and finishing well over Tommy. We spent most of the rest of the half on top, and had a few half chances and one great close range one that Titties couldn't wrap his left foot around. Those are the type of games we need to start taking points from, and to do it we're going to have stop "playing like crabs". I'm not sure what that means because Andrew was too devastated to explain. He might still be muttering it now. "We're crabs, we're crabs, we're crabs." Andrew, on Friday night we're going to be like panthers. It'll be ok.

A Solid Win on the PSA

Hotspurs went into their fifth game of September on Saturday, hoping to build on what had so far been a successful month for the club. Facing off against Hibs is never easy though, and it was always going to be a tough 90 minutes on a sweltering hot afternoon on the PSA. The first half was a tight affair, with both sides working as hard as they could in the heat. A few half chances fell at both ends, but the sides went into the break at 0-0. The second half started well for Hotspurs- Roseburgh netting his first of the season shortly after half time following some good build up play from Elias and a neat 1-2 with Donovan. The rest of the game saw a lot of hard work from both sides, and although Hibs piled some great pressure on in the closing stages, they couldn't quite find a breakthrough. 1-0 Hotspurs to make it 4 wins out of 5 in September, with 4 clean sheets in the process. A great start, and lots of hard work to come over the next few weeks. Thanks to Hibs for a well-fought game as always, and well done to Captain Jones- leading by example at the back in a man of the match performance.
