A massive kick in the stones

A terribly disappointing game for us. We managed to get a 13 man squad together with many missing and created enough chances to win a few games but wasn't to be as a resilaint rangers took the points. The first half was an even encounter with both teams creating a few half chances with erics header the best chance well saved by the keeper. 2 injuries in the first half saw us use up our 2 subs at half time. Second half we dominated creating 5-6 good chances but ultimately not finished. One break away by the rangers left winger who ran 60m to the by line and put a cross into the back post for the striker to finish well. We had another 2-3 chances but nothing went in. 2 disappointing results in a row, thankfully we look forward to a handy one this weekend and well see rangers in the final for some revenge.

Smash and Grab

On a stupidly humid day at turf city both teams arrived with many regulars missing due to the long weekend. Was a tale of two halfs really, Rangers were the more dominant in the first and Aioli in the second. A draw would have been a fair result considering the overall game but we managed to nick a classic counterattack goal in the second half with Jacko rampaging down the left wing and crossing for the only attacker in the box, Honda, on debut, to control superbly and tuck home. This was against the run of play at the time when Aioli had more possession and were looking threatening but our defence holding firm, just. Both teams had their chances in the dominant periods but failed to take advantage on a day where about 100kg must have been sweated out on the pitch. FT:1-0 to Rangers and onto the semi final next week.
