Back on track

A tough opening 45 mins against the swiss saw us in at HT 0-0. We played our passing game as best we could on the tricky Dempsey pitch but didn't put way the chances we created. Most of our shots wide and the swiss keeper equal to the rest. A cast iron penalty refused on 30 minutes and it looked as if it could be a long day waiting for a goal. HT team talk was more of the same second half, be patient and the goals will come. The swiss running out of legs gave us a little more time on the ball and some fresh legs on we looked very dangerous. A cross from the right to a player who ran inside and behind his defender was smashed in by itchy only to be disallowed on 60 minutes for offside. We turned up the pressure in frustration afterwards and great work by the relentless running of itchy saw the ball drop to addy in the box and he stuck it to give us the lead. Shortly afterwards great work by young harry saw him outmuscle a player in the box and smash in the second. At this stage we started to open up more, 4 subs on and plenty of running in us. We won a few free kicks at the edge of the box and were close to getting a 3rd before thibault struck one and although on target was stolen by super header from the marauding right back Benjamin. MOM for us was harry who was part of a high performing CM partnership. Last game for our french magician thibault, a huge part of the spirit of this team and will be sorely missed. We wish you the best of luck on your travels tony. 3-0 and a big result for us to keep us in the hunt for top 6. Thanks to the swiss for a challenging game. Cup QF next week vs Hibs

Disappointing....

Compared to a full squad last week, Swiss were missing a couple guys out of the country, suspension, injuries. This meant some players in new positions. Nonetheless, it was a rather dull opening half, with both teams cancelling each other out. Aioli did have most of the possession. More of the same in the second half, until the half way point when Aioli broke through. Then the game was more or less over, fatigue kicked in, and Aioli scored 2 more. Sure we missed some regulars in key positions but a rather lacklustre performance from our end anyway.
