Picked off

Great to be back and beautiful new pitch. But it proved that SFC played smarter, more aggressive and clinical to chalk up a seven to nothing. We really didn't play the pitch well and got our tactics wrong in the first half. Hands up from the Gaffer. We could've taken the lead after 60 seconds missing a tap in..but instead the ball went to the other end. 1-0, Shotton. 2-0. Lovely cross from Claridge and header - forward Beckford in control and classy goal really. 5 mins gone. 3-0. CB isolated. On rushing keeper. Amazing lob on the volley from 40 yards from Beckford. 4-0. Great break from their young no 10. Ran from half way into our box and slide it under Shailer. Half time. Blown away and we had played some good football. Should have scored at least 2 and had a decent peno shout. Ah well game over. Got minutes for some new players. And we learned lots. Second half we were more solid. 5 goals was unlucky the way it skidded through. A penalty for 6. And then last kick of the night on a break. We shall take our medicine and believe it or not showed moments of promise. Best I've see Liam Shotton post pandemic. He was mean last night :)! We go again

SFC 7 Gaelic Lions 0

On a beautifully slick pitch, 2nd played 3rd with Singapore FC having the opportunity to go top on goal difference with a win. Despite the emphatic score line, the game was competitive throughout and Lions were unlucky not to take an early lead. However, SFC were in clinical form, scoring almost every time they got into the opposition’s final third. Shotton and Beckford were the difference makers, scoring 4 and 2 goals respectively. The pick of the bunch was a first-time lob over the oncoming keeper from Beckford. Heth chipped in with the other goal, after a surging run. Claridge played his part with 4 assists. Thank you to the match officials and Gaelic for a well contested match. MOM: Liam Shotton
