Good performance despite loss

GSAS vs SFC used to be a very one-sided affair with the last match not long ago went 7:0 for SFC. While it eventually was still a comfortable 3:0 for SFC, the Germans can be satisfied with good performance. 3 first half goals from SFC were an accumulation of a soft penalty and 2 other goals, which seemed saveable from the otherwise so consistent and reliable GSAS keeper. It was a pretty tame affair with few chances on either side though SFC still had more control of the game with good ball possession and positioning. The second half appeared very much like a 50/50 match and GSAS should have scored at least 1 goal when reliable scorer Mark Addy hit his own left leg when trying to put the ball over the goal-line which was only 2m away. Plenty of midfield battles and action in the center of the pitch left GSAS wondering why it still seemed like a clear cut defeat with 0:3 at the end of the match. MoM: Till DoD: Nico

Taking Care of Business

SFC faced off against the German All Stars in a well contested battle. Despite starting the game with 10 men and no goal keeper, SFC showed their intentions to dominate possession and work the the All Stars across the smaller pitch 2 at turf from minute one. This tactic didn’t take long before paying off, with Wes Adeyemi receiving the ball in the box, rolling the defender and being brought down for a penalty. Michael Campion made no mistake from the spot to put SFC into an early lead. The All Stars continued to threaten on the break or with balls over the box, but after a large stint of SFC possession, Campo got the ball in midfield, sprayed the ball out wide to the left finding an unmarked Jack Cullinane, who brought the ball down and finished smartly at the front post. SFC capped off a good half when Liam Shotton received the ball from Campo around 25 yards out. Shotton turn and belted an effort into the roof of the net, giving man of the match Campion his second assist, to add to his goal. The second half was played at an equally intense pace, even with SFC making a number of changes. Despite the score line the All Stars continued to run and fight, making life difficult for SFC. The second half ended scoreless, giving SFC a 3-0 victory and enough to send them top of the league.
