Goals Galore against Hibs
3pm Kick-off at the huge PSA pitch proved to be as warm as usual in sunny Singapore.
All our players were "hungry" to get started after some 2 weeks without playing any football matches. We lined up with 3 strikers to force an early opening goal and that proved to be a good decision. We got the opening goal within 5 minutes as Kenni connected with a Tommie cross to make it 1-0. Throughout the half our strikers proved to have more pace than the Hibs defenders and we exploited that several times on the large PSA pitch. Naoki quickly made it 2-0 after a good run challenging a few defenders. Kenni made it 3-0 with a tap-in following a Tommie cross, as our continued to do well midfield & defense to unleash our 3 strikers with good through balls.
We had only played some 25 minutes when Tommie made it 4-0 as he found the top corner from outside the box after a nice lay-off by Peter Lund. Naoki "maybe the hungriest of vikings" scored his second shortly after from inside the box, good finish and it was 5-0. 30 minutes played and we were up 5-0, amazing going forward but we also looked very unorganized in defense and Hibs had several chances to score, but fortunately their finishing lacked a bit. They got their 5-1 goal after very passive play by our defense, which allowed an unmarked Hibernian to score.
Shortly after another through ball allowed Tommie to outrun the Hibs defender on half volley the ball into the net. Just before the break Hibs got another goal, as they were awarded a penalty when Jesper The Kind pushed their striker in the back. They converted and it was 6-2 at Half Time.
Second half was not as enjoyable as the first. Both teams were getting tired and Vikings tried to contain the ball and make sure Hibs didn't get back into the match. A quickly taken free-kick early in the second half found Naoki and he coolly converted to become Hattrick Hero. 7-2 and it was game over, but as usual Hibs continued to fight and credits to them for showing that desire. They were awarded with 2 goals for their hard work rate, as ex-viking trialist Abib scored a freak goal - guess Steven in goal would agree. :-). Mikael Hansen made his comeback for Vikings and did well in attack. He scored the last goal, which made it 8-4. Our experienced boys Franner & Buck did well in the second half as well as ladies favorite Peter DT.
Thanks to Hibs for a fair game and all the best in your remaining games.
