A much anticipated Derby against our friends and foes from Hotspurs. Rangers fielded a strong line up and competed well for this match but unfortunately did not get any points to show for our efforts.
nA brief summary from the sidelines…Hotspurs off to a quick start with territorial edge for the first 15 minutes but rangers defended well. For the next 20-25 minutes Rangers controlled play with nice passing which finally paid off with a nice goal by Ned…Binnsy could be heard hollering at Harry’s on Dempsey Hill. Hotspurs managed to open the left side of our defence in the last 30 seconds of the first half to draw even at the whistle.
nSecond half was even early and then Hotspurs upped the pressure, while Rangers relied on our counter attacking ability and created a couple of scoring chances but were not taken. A handball penalty on the goal line by Jeremy with about 15 to go and Esad was up to the task. A heroic effort by Jeremy to save the initial attack resulted in one of the bloodiest skinned knees seen in a long time…hope it is healing fine mate!
nA clincher another 7-8 minutes later with a well taken volley from a Hotspurs midfielder sealed the deal.
nGreat effort fellows, Ned man of the match for your tireless running and tackling and solid debut in goal by the lightning quick Pepe.
