The day started badly with an unwashed kit and didn’t get much better. A scorching day in Singapore and the PSA punished those who took it easy / didn’t have a pre-season. Hibs started well but that was to last just 15 mins before Vikings took more control on the game. That said the better chances were the Hibs and but for a dodgy offside call the Sofa would have had us 1-0 up just as the gaffer (Ben) had talked about pre-game the first goal would be crucial. Unfortunately it went to the Vikings, a sliced clearance from Burkey went straight to the centre forward who had the easy task of knocking it into the open net. The defense was working hard as the midfield and attack repeatedly gave away possession with poor passing and poor work rate off the ball. This led to long balls that were handled with ease by the Vikings and didn’t give Clarky or Duncan much of a chance.
Half time team talk was a fair rant from the boss as he tried to motivate and give a kick up the backside to the team. Second half and 10 mins in Clarky is clean through on the keeper but doesn’t get his Cosmo account for the Hibs off the mark. 2 mins later more sloppy play from the Hibs and the Vikings go 2 up. Wholesale changes made to try and chase the game but the Vikings played keep ball and sat deep on the giant PSA pitch and made the Hibs run hard. Only one other chance of note as the wannabe centre forward James Harvey has a great chance to put one away from 6 yards out but fluffed his lines. Vikings got a 3rd and the game was well and truly over.
Hibs need to take this a waking up call and really start to play the ball better if the ambitions of finishing at the top end of the table are going to be realised this season. Thanks to the Vikings for a tough but fair game. Difficult to name a MOM as a team we didn’t really perform. But for the solid defending Mike Roberts
