Casuals began with the same formation which finished so well last week against a strong looking Rangers side, sporting many regulars on the bench. The game began and was a little cagey to start - a rather lethargic Casuals struggling to move the ball on the slow surface at UWC.. 20 mins in the Casuals defence allowed a Rangers midfielder to shoot from 25 yards and were surprised to see the shot arch over Peel and in off the crossbar. Casuals improved thereafter and had the Lions share of the game - a good ball from Doug found Mooney who's shot was turned into the side netting off a defender, from the resulting corner mad Dave struck the ball sweetly against the crossbar and in.. 10 mins later and an early ball found Mooney who was taken down for a pen which the striker duly converted for 2-1.. The Casuals then committed the cardinal sin by switching off right on half time and allowing a Rangers forward time in the box for 2-2, right on the whistle..
nSecond half became a toil - the Casuals pressing but unable to create great chances - Tom was spurned by the keeper with the best, Mooney flicked a header just over and the other end Peel made a good save and the Reds were thankful for a captain's tackle from Greg.. In the final moments of the game, Tom headed for the by-line and was taken out for a clear penalty but the officials let it go.
nA draw, good committment but not enough quality on the day to say the Reds deserved to win, probably a fair result. Rangers will do well if they have this side out every week.
