Nippon bring excellent new players in! (PG-13)
Wherever Nippon sits in the standings, you can be sure they produce their best starting 11 when the Swiss come to town. Unfortunately for the Swiss, many of our top players were absent and we struggled to get enough to start the match (just 9 players 5 min before game time). Game time conditions were excellent - not too hot and the pitch just right (not too hard or too muddy). Nippon started off playing the possession game and creating a few chances but it was the Swiss scoring first with a nice ball from Sepp to Martin who tucked it away for a 1-0 Swiss halftime lead. Second half begin with both teams having some minor chances. However, finally a Nippon through ball miss-played by yours truly resulted in a foul and PK award. The Nippon player did the start-stop Socretes thing before taking the successful PK (isn't this a no-no?). 1-1. Swiss again went ahead when Martin made a brilliant run to the line and crossed to Man who scored from close range. OK can the Swiss ever hold a lead on Nippon? Well the answer is NO!!!! 7 min from the end a seemingly innocent cross into the Swiss box somehow ended up in our net. Final score 2-2. Positive notes: our new 16 year old Jamie played a great game at midfield, and Jason had an excellent game in the unfamiliar defensive role. Game was fair, well played, no swear words, and OK refereed (Martin did not deserve the yellow). Nippon, please have that team for all your matches and you will certainly rise through the standings.
