The Hotspurs roadshow hit the Japanese Association for a 4.45pm kick-off on Saturday and left fans drooling for more after a magnificent display of controlled football. We were wary of a new-look French side we had recently seen achieve a good result against Brewerkz in a match where they looked as though they were going to collect all three points. They had also been unlucky to lose against us in the first game.
Â
We had talked about taking chances early on in games and putting the game beyond our opponents, and this we did going one up after 5 minutes and adding a second after six. Dalis was the scorer of both, and he went on to collect another two from the penalty spot for a 4-0 half-time lead. It could have been a lot more had we put away numerous clear-cut chances that were created. It wasnâ??t all one-sided though; the French also wasted a couple of good opportunities themselves when they hit a post and were thwarted by Neil in goal.
Â
The problem with having a comfortable lead is that you can switch off thinking the game is over. The Hotspurs though continued playing irresistible football with Esad at last finding his shooting boots and adding two himself early in the second-half. The game continued to throw up chances galore, with Dalis seeming content to set Esad up despite dancing into goal-scoring positions himself, and Esad wanting to walk the ball into the net. A seventh was duly added however when Deano waltzed into the box and struck a delightful goal in front of proud parents. His celebration suggested heâ??d scored the winner! Â
Â
The French were unlucky to find us in this sort of mood, and it was pleasing to get back to winning ways whilst giving the subs a good chunk of the game. Even the manager came on and unleashed a cracking drive that hit the bar!
Â
Esad went through a full repertoire of skills, but seemed to stop playing for the team second-half and was duly berated by Binnsy; the backline was very solid; the midfield creative, but the difference was Dalis who tormented the French all game and whose unselfish play gets my man-of-the-match.
