A very welcome and much needed win!!

On what turned out to be an overcast and heavy afternoon, Rangers FC finally feel that some of the good football that has been played this season has eventually paid dividends.

The pitch at St Josephs was more like a bog than a surface to play football but a lot of credit must go to both teams who contrived to play a decent game of football. It took both teams a little while to get used to the playing conditions but it was the Rangers who managed to find the breakthrough when a smartly taken goal by captain Toddy provided the platform for what was to become a very confident performance by the whole team.

The second soon followed when the rangers tricky winger Morrison cut into the penalty box before being up-ended for a clear cut penalty which was coolly converted by Gura. The third was a rarity when Chidi rose through the air with the grace of a ballerina to head over and beyond the despairing Hollandse goalkeeper. There was still time in the first half for rangers to grab another as Morrison finished off a slick flowing move.

Half time 4-0 to the Rangers.

The second half started as the first half ended with Rangers in complete control and producing some very good chances. However following a series of Rangers substitutions, the Dutch came back into it and were unlucky not to get on the score board as Sybe produced a series of great stops to maintain the clean sheet.

The fifth and clearly best Rangers goal came courtesy of a solo run by Dave 'Dangerous' Budd who ran from the half way line, turned their defenders inside out before lifting the ball over the on rushing goalkeeper. It’s not often that 'dangerous' Dave gets on the scoresheet but when he does, boy is it something special!!

The sixth and final goal followed great interchange play between the front two with Luis applying a simple touch into an open goal.

Great credit must go to both teams for playing a very good spirited game on what was a pretty bad pitch. Good luck to Hollandse for the rest of the season and for Rangers we hope that this is the beginning of an upturn in our fortunes.
