Let it be said right away - Thomas Soerensen - 5 Goals - IMPRESSIVE........

Another 3pm kick off for the Vikings, and another game at the big Singapore Sports School pitch - and this time against the quick paced Japanese. While the Vikings and Thomas already got the first goal within the 2 minute mark after some clever foodwork by our own japanese Bugis-san, the first half did belong to  the Japanese - and only due good goal keeping by Steven in goal and a Frandsen flying header to clear the ball, we were only down 2-1 at halftime.

A halftime with three substitution (with one already made in first half) - as the slower Rafa and Jesper did not have their best day in the office against the quick Japanese. Captain Just took control of the defense line with Moeller and especially Elbo doing a great job as man markers, and the Vikings had another flying start and after some nice attacking play Fallesen found Tommie open in the box, and Tommie made it 2-2 with his 2nd of the day.

The joy was only to last shortly for the Vikings as we gifted them another goal (same story as the 2nd goal) - and Nippon were up 3-2. Some 15 minutes into the half, a Vikings clearance were not dealt with properly by the Nippon defender and Tommie did not hesitate to take advantage to level the game at 3-3 - some people had a flashback to the world cup in Mexico in 1986, Denmark Vs Uruguay (6-1 for Denmark), Michael Laudrup alone with the keeper: "han skyder, nej han venter, jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, Michael Laudrup, det er genialt det der !!!), it was more a less what Tommie did, faked a shot and went around the goalkeeper for an easy tap-in.

2nd half midfield engine Casper did an amazing job creating chances left , right, centre and got his award after some 25 minutes of the half when he after a few nice dribles found himself inside the Nippon box - a neat back pass back to Tommie who made it 4 for him and the Vikings.

Chris "super-sub" Soerensen had come on for a hardworking Dyne Larsen, and after some nice passing with Bugis and Casper he found Tommie inside the box, and despite the efforts of two Japanese defenders they just could not hold him back and 5 it was. With 5 minutes to go Chris got a nice pass from birthday boy Calamari (30 years - congrats!!!) - who redeemed himself form last weeks performance against Latini - and Chris made one of signature moves rolling the ball under his foot to give himself a 1-on-1 with the Nippon goalkeeper and made it 6-3. Credit to Bugis for making a run that made to japanese defenders chase him and opening up the space for Chris.

A very positive performance from the team on a day where 4-5 players did not perform up to normal standard. It was very positive to see Fallesen take charge of the midfield, a lot of  talking and clever decision making. Thumbs up for Elbo as well, he seemed misplaced on the right wing in first half - and made up for it with a super 2nd half as man-marker. But of course no doubt at all - MOM - THOMAS SOERENSEN.

Thanks to the 15-20 Vikings supporters, its really nice to see more and more people out there and it does help the team alot. Also a great thanks to Nippon for a good game played in good spirit, we are not in doubt that you will be a threat to any team in this league. The referee did not have his best day at the office and missed quite a few small freekicks, but on a positive note did not have any "major" mistakes.

Saturday - Swiss vs Vikings, the match the watch :)
