Casuals Back on Track
A wet day leaving the surface slick for the game versus the Vikings at the poly.
The Casuals lined up with a major reshuffle of the midfield and welcomed Mad Dave back in defence..
Poor defending in playing in the wrong areas led to a corner being conceded where a Viking headed home unmarked - a bad start... From this point on - the Casuals played with a tempo and intensity not seen for some time. A healthy dialogue between the players was also back and the team created a number of chances, often just the final ball lacking but Tom eventually made it 1-1 and Mooney laid the ball back to Doug who made it 2-1 with a great strike from outside the box..
Second half and more of the same - with the midfield settting the pace, Paul and Ben excelling in the middle, and the movement of the strikers causing problems for the Vikings. A Mooney run led to a clearance off the line before another run led to the keeper getting a hand to his shot and Tom finished off from a yard..
The Casuals should have killed off the game but didnt and the Vikings came back to 3-2 and despite a couple of edgy moments the Casuals saw out a deserved victory..
Well done to the Vikings who are a top team but this was a good day for the Reds who showed the hunger which has been absent in recent times..
