What a game!

Such kind of game does not need long speeches. But as usual, Captain Rogers was motivating and inspiring for the squad. We all knew what was to be done on the day and how... from high commitment to the team and supporting each other to fighting on every ball and showing we want it more. But most importantly, playing our football and take the 3 points home. We also knew what to expect from this game... Revenge! After a cracker 6-3 for SCC in the first leg vs. Latini a few months ago! Latini indeed showed up in number, on and off the pitch for what seemed to be one of the Cosmo League games of season 2010!

n

And right from the start, the game was played to a very high level of intensity and passion, with both teams fighting for every ball all over the park. SCC managed the game very well, and despite a very aggressive Latini side, created a few chances. Most of these chances where created from set pieces or crosses when finding our wingers, but McCarvel and Hutcheon were not able to find the target. All in all, SCC midfield was in control in first half, but to be honest, not much to do for both keepers.

n

0-0 at half time, and a confident SCC squad for the second half. Good talk as a team, and willingness to find Paul ‘Ji-Sung’ more often as well as taking our chances, or at least testing the keeper!

n

Second half started same way as the first one for both teams, not stepping down in terms of intensity and passion. No one wants to give an inch to the other... Nevertheless SCC managed to take a few long distance shots, but no luck or a good Latini keeper. 60' and Paul ‘Ji-Sung’ to take on a few players in the centre of the park to find Hutcheon in the space brilliantly. The last season MVP made no mistake and showed once more why he deserved it! Hutcheon is not scoring 5 goals per game vs.teams as other strikers may do within the league but he is always making the difference in big games!

n

30mn to go and Latini not ready to give up, they are spirited as always! Both teams made a few changes, players and tactic.

n

The last 10mn saw SCC conceding a little more space under pressure but not enough to see Latini creating any major chances. 5mn to go and a deflected free kick by SCC’s keeper for a Latini player to score taking on the second ball! Unfortunately for Latini squad and fans, the joy was short, just a few seconds for the referee to disallow the goal for a fault on SCC's keeper. This could be seen as a fortunate call for SCC, and Latini's fans hugely disappointed. The last few minutes were well managed by new look SCC's defence to bring the 3 points home. Job very well done indeed.

n

Good day at the office for SCC's displaying a new jersey sponsored by IFS. Once again the full squad is important as a team to win these kinds of games. All subs had a great impact in the game even for a few minutes only.

n

MoM goes to Bates, for his wonderful display as centre midfield, right back and centre back at times. You handled well the Latini's quality midfield and always found the quick and precise short pass to Souiade and Paul ‘Ji-Sung’ to ease SCC’s attacking game. Quality! Well done mate.

n

Thanks to Latini for a very though game as usual, we are looking forward the Cup game coming soon! I am sure each and every player enjoyed it, and both teams’ fans and WAGs enjoyed watching such a quality game. We all wish we have more games at this level in Cosmo League.

n

Thanks to the referees, for handling both teams very well and letting the game flow. Good game!

n

Next week another great game vs. Casuals, and despite their last few games, no doubt they will be up for it. We need to keep our focus and passion for these games!
