With 14 repeats in the squad and with 10 of 11 starting from last week the Vikings focused on the continuity and to play same sort of football as last week. However as an extra opponent for this 3 o clock kick off was the heat, and we used our substitutions a lot earlier than normal – and credit to the 5 guys coming off the bench to deliver good performances. We started the game out putting a lot of pressure on the Hibs in the surge for an early goal, and while the defensive line marshalled by Jesper and flanked by Just and Rafa took good care of the Hibs counter attacks, the Vikings goal attempts were either not accurate or well blocked by the Hibs defence, and it took an error from the Hibs goalkeeper to allow Rasmus Bach to open his tally for this season to make it 1-0 Vikings some 25 minutes into the ngame.

Around the same time Vikings had to make their first substitution as Mr Elbo could not really find his legs on the day, and was replaced by debutant Christian Fallesen. For the remainder of first half the Vikings pushed on to make it 2-0 but good efforts by Bach (on the bar) and Naoki after some 34 dribbles did not result to any goals – and the same two guys failed to make short passes to Dyne Larsen who on both occasions were looking at an easy tap-in. Half time came and while the heat was making its impact we decided to go for two further substitutions as Danfoss and Bergholdt replaced Moeller and Rafa. 2nd half started and Christian Fallesen and Peter DT started to make more and more impact attacking wise and with “the dog” doing the dirty job on defensive midfield to perfection it was only a matter of time before we would make it 2-0. However as we looked in control suddenly a Hibs striker found himself one-on-one with Eu Jin, who pulled out a good safe for the Vikings to stay in the lead and on another occasion he made a catch from a decent Hibs free-kick look easy. Only minutes after, a Vikings counter attack found Dyne Larsen chasing the ball, he controlled it well and squared to Rasmus Bach who finished coolly. 2-0 Vikings.  However this goal were at cost, as both of our strikers started to struggle with cramps and injuries and both had to come off shortly after as subs no 4 and 5.

Last weeks 2 goal hero Chris Kaiser came on and had immediate impact with a couple of nice dribbles before finding Fallesen, who had made a good run from the midfield and the debutant slotted it home to seal of the game 3-0 Vikings. Unfortunately both Danfoss and Berghold got injured within the last 20 minutes, the first after a very harsh tackle from a Hibs midfielder and while both of them stayed on to finish the match it looks like they will both be out for the next couple of weeks if not more.

Man of the match went to Peter DT who has taken opportunity to establish himself in the Vikings starting 11 while others have been absent also a lot of credit to his midfield colleguees Johan and Fallesen and to Rasmus for scoring two goals.

Thanks to the Hibs for a nice game played in a friendly atmosphere and thanks to the referees who had a quiet but good day at the office.

The Vikings are now looking forward nto playing Latini next week and with injuries and a few guys returning from DK the squad is set for quite a few changes.
