OGS clearly dominated the first 20 minutes, with a good and accurate passing game and good defensive work from everyone. Possession was ours and Hibs defense did not seem in a good day. Tamby would logically get the opener with an acrobatic kick from close range. OGS strikers kept combining well and Hibs defense had trouble containing them. nFred would get a good opportunity but his powerful shot hit the bar. A few minutes later, though, Fred would put in a second goal from OGS, after a neat crossed shot. 2-0 after 20 min, hopes were higher than ever that we would win our first game of the season. Unfortunately OGS , maybe overconfident or losing a bit of motivation.. we are still wondering.... would give away 20 min, that would be enough for hibs to score 3 goals. The first one on an imaginary penalty kick awarded to no 18 who was laying on our defender, holding his arm.... Maybe the sun was too hot for the referee today... Nothing to say about the two other goals due to OGS passivity and poor defending on two free kicks
nn3-2 halftime.
Coach JB tried to remotivate the team as everything seemed possible during that game.
Second half would see OGS getting most possession with Hibs ony trying to contain and counter attack
Despite a lot of substitution referee decided to play only 45min that half, and maybe OGS could have scored with a few extra minutes in a deserved extra time. (Maybe ref could not give that extra time because second game needed to start.... and because our game only started at 3.15pm due to referees arriving late...)
Anyway, at the end of the day its another defeat for us, and a very disappointing one. Congrats to Hibs for winning that game with only a few occasions, and showing us what the Irish fighting spirit is. Thanks also to them for the overall fair play and good spirit on the pitch.
As for us, it's still an improvement compared to previous game against the germans. We just need to play 90 min instead of 70....
