A good game from the Latini Warriors on the field, once again showing the desire and willingness to win the challenges, play football and work hard which in the end resulted in a solid victory. In general we controlled the game with the exception of 10-15min in the second half when the Vikings started to have more possession and 1 or 2 close calls apart from that Latini generally seemed to control the pace and direction of the game.
nFirst half we had a lot of possession and worked hard in midfield and defence to win the ball back early when we didn’t have possession, but it was difficult to carve out any clear chances, a few nice crosses that maybe could have been finished a little better. The goal came when our strikers and midfielder put pressure on the Vikings defenders who were trying to pass their way out of trouble, ball was picked up by Daniele and passed to Magaud who cheekily chipped the keeper – 1:0 Latini.
nSecond half – Latini started bright and created a few good chances in the first 10min but struggled to get the finishing touch, some nice passing through midfield, down the wings and into the box, good football with at least 2 or 3 good chances to increase our lead. After this Vikings started to wake up, they had a goal disallowed and a low shot saved by Cuong. Latini continued to work hard and we managed to weather the storm. Vikings started to push for the equaliser which gave us opportunities on the counter attack. Two nice goals from Adrien and one of the Latini newcomers Barun gave us more breathing space and ensured we took home 3points. In the end we carved out another 2 or 3 more good chances to score but couldn’t find the finishing touch.
nMan of the match has a few contenders from midfield and attack but to be fair the fact that we kept a clean sheet and defended strongly ensured we took home the spoils. Cuongs name has to be mentioned for pulling off a great save at 1-0 which could have changed the complexion of the game. Rob and Matteo had very good games at the back and Raffa did a fantastic job but my man of the match will go to Darren who has really taken control of the back line and cleaning up any potential danger when necessary – cleansheet well done boys.
nThanks to the Vikings for as usual a very competitive game and good luck for the remainder of the season.
Thanks to the referee’s who had a good day.
