Duracell batteries need re-charging...

Latini struggled to get a result against a very competitive and well organised Lions team. Overall a very close game that always looked like it would be decided by 1 goal or at least have a close scoreline. I cannot fault the attitude of our players, everyone was willing to work hard and players put in a hard shift, in the end we were just not able to convert any of the chances we created or we took the wrong decisions in the final third (pass, shoot, dribble at the wrong time). We had a few good spells in the game in particular in the first half that may changed the course of the game had we converted or had decisions gone our way. We were missing a few players but most noticeably we only had 3 subs and it would have helped to have extra legs in midfield and attack coming off the bench. It felt like the team energy levels and so called Team Dynamics were low on Saturday and at the end of the day against a competitive team such as Lions these are the things that make the difference.
Although the referee had a good game there was 1 tackle in the first half that could have changed the complexion of the game – Fafa was brought down on the edge of the box by Kelso who appeared to be the last man but the referee felt there was another defender on the same line. He gave a yellow but could have easily been red. It was a tough call but at the end of the day we need to score our chances, so no complaints there.
However it seemed to set the tone for the game which was that it just wasn’t our day - exemplified by an action in the last minutes of the game when Jun delivered a good corner that was attacked at full force by Gob Price only to bounce back of the cross bar...the kind of day where things just are not going the way you want.
Overall I felt that Latini had better possession, probably more shots on goal and overall good enough chances, especially in the first half to get 1 or more goals. However it has to be said that Lions probably did have 2 of the best chances of the game and they managed to convert one of them.
Man of the match for me has to be Darren probably the only Latini player who was shouting and organising Latini players on the pitch, as usual he put in a solid shift at the back and not much he could do about the goal when he was trying to cover 2 players.
Thanks to ISA Lions for a competitive game played in the right spirit and good luck for your remaining season.
Referee and team had a good enough game....no complaints.
Latini will need to pick themselves up and make sure they bounce back against an unpredictable GAS side (beating Casuals after losing 3 or 4 games in a row).  A win this week will lift the spirits of the Legionnaires, get us moving in the right direction and ensure we finish the first half of the season on a high note....come on Latini.
