Slicker than your average!
A relatively wet morning prior to the game at Dempsey made the pitch a little slicker than the average and the thought of such conditions made SCC drool at the mouth. Credit to the club, grounds man and staff at SCC, the drainage really does its job and the pitch fairs well in any weather, combine that with the short grass some could argue its better than the Padang at this current moment.n

SCC approached the game once again in a very professional mood, players turning up on time and in good spirit… when the team is in such energetic and eager mood it is really pleasing to see the progress the team makes from game to game… even it is only the smallest of things!

n

Last weeks close encounter (relatively) with the Swiss gave Monaghan a reason to push SCC a notch further and ensure that from the whistle we were up for it and furthermore took the passion and desire to win all the way thru to the final whistle…. and in a nut shell that’s exactly the summary of the game… desire, passion, willingness to succeed, professionalism and overall quality! It seemed that magic had graced the lips of the coach and from those few words…. Hey presto!! that’s exactly what the team did.

n

SCC welcomed back to the squad JP McCarvel (forward), Richie Pugh (Midfield) and Luke Bates (Midfield) whilst young JD got a start after last weeks excellent game and joined Nahar upfront in the absence of Hutcho who was smashing it up in Bali with his chick! The inclusion of Scott Anderson into center mid on his birthday weekend meant that SCC once again had made the necessary changes to combat HIBS without weakening their team in the slightest.

n

From the whistle SCC set out to dominate and control all aspects of the game. The coach wanted the team to be more patient with their approach, not to force the issue, retain possession, set and start again!…and in previous fixtures we have experienced frustration after not scoring straight away! This has sometimes led to a little disbelief and in some cases causing us to make wrong decisions… For sure this was a massive improvement on last week and it shows in our ability to then proceed forward as a unit and take teams apart for 90 minutes!  So at the midway mark of the first half Nahar “top draw I give you four” Daud gave himself a little space to squeeze a “slider” into the bottom corner of the Hibs net (inside the post)… 1-0. Nahar continued with as much luck when he directed the ball from Daviid of his SLICKER than your average Malay head into the Hibs net…2-0… SCC still pushing, creating opportunity after opportunity made it 3-0 going in to the break thru Daud again.

n

Sitting comfortably at 3-0 SCC went further into the lead soon after the break when JP McCarvel squeezed his bum between goal keeper and defense to direct the best bum shot in the world over the keepers head and into the net.. The rumor is…CROCS are moving into the underwear business and if this is the case then I would say that it was a testament to the quality of the rubber they use as the ball literally bounced of his bum to make it 4-0.

n

At this point the gaffer made some wise substitutions bringing on Sutton, Pugh, Tan and McCarvel… followed also by debutant Girault. Tired legs came off for fresh energetic ones and the SCC looked once again refreshed by new players and new ideas.

n

The fifth was by far the most spectacular of Nahar’s 4 goal fest and SCC’s… The ball was sent from the half way line to Nahar who controlled and volleyed into the top corner… great goal, great 4 from Nahar!! 5-0

n

Last goal went to Wells… who managed to escape the radar and ended up in the box!! Not sure about the goal but they say it was one of wellsies best!! 6-0

n

A quick mention to the HIBS… Once again Hibs conducted themselves in a very professional manner, great lads all round and very fair. I felt they had some decisions go against them at times and in most instances it was very comical! With a few players back from injury they will only improve, by no means should they feel disheartened by two losses in a row to last years top two teams as I feel they are more than capable of finishing higher than last year and even taking points of any of the teams in the league! Special mention to Naka – Good to see you back supporting your team on the sideline and all at SCC hope you have a speedy and successful recovery!

n

No arguments with the referee or officials, they did there job well under the circumstances and controlled both teams very well.

The MOM goes to young Joshua Donovan (JD) for a superb display of forward play apart from a goal, though his workrate, holdup play and skill was a great to see.  A special mention to Nahar for 4 goals and the manner in which he gained them.
