Great finish to 2009 for the Vikings
A strong Viking squad having just returned from the tournament win in Phuket last weekend, went into the match against brewerkz with hopes of ending 2009 on a high. However random waterholes stopping our attacking play in first half, a few defensive blunders and effecient Brewerkz strikers saw the Vikings down 2-0 after just 20 minutes.
Our midfield with debutants Morten and Dennis slowly started taking control of the game, but our first goal came from Rasmus after a scramble in the Brewerkz penalty box. Coming in to 2nd half hopes where high and we quickly got our equalizer as Dennis neatly headed in Calamaris pass that had travelled some 40 meters. Shortly after Tommie found himself with some space inside the penalty box and with a beautifull finish over the Brewerkz keeper he made it 3-2 for the Vikings.
Another couple of minutes later Rasmus scored his 2nd off a Tommie assist. 2 well taken corners from Calamari where well received by Tommie, who in both occasions put some powerfull headers behind the Brewerkz keeper. In the closing stages both team had a few chances and Brewerkz converted one to make the final score 6-3.
A very positive end of to 2009, that has seen "old guys" Jesper and Just delivering superb defensive work, both goalkeepers having won games for us, Cala and Rafa playing the best ball of their 3 years in Singapore, new players DT, Elbo and Fallesen making a difference, Bugis san outrunning some 11-12 different cosmo wingers, and of course our 3 main strikers having scored some 36 goals between them.
In addition we have shown that we have strength in depth this season, and even with alot of injuries and a 3 games match ban for Tommie earlier in the season we have managed to field strong squads week in and week out.
Man of the match went deservedly to Tommie - keep it going mate and Mooney will have a run for the Golden boot this season. Thanks to Brewerkz for a good competitive game.
