SCC vastly superior
For a change the weather was kind. Overcast sky and a light drizzle replaced the baking lessons of the last few weeks.
SCC had suffered a rare defeat the week before and they wanted to make sure that they don't loose two in a row. They were never in danger of that happening. They demonstrated why they are the best team in the league and why they will again be champions this year. They are exceptionally well organized, talented and have such depth in the squad thath they can afford to have a former S-League player on the bench.
SCC immediately in control of the game and putting pressure on the Swiss. However, that pressure is quite well absorbed until the Swiss give away a ball needlessly in the middle of the park and two or three quick passes later the ball is in the back of the net. The Swiss build up is too sloppy, the last ball is usually not finding the destination. Nevertheless, Norman has a sniff at goal, but misses. Two minutes later and another SCC goal: this time a crisp low shot from one of their impressive wingers. The best chance for the Swiss then fell again to Norman just before the break. Michel weaved his magic at the corner flag and his smart back pass finds Norman, whose shot goes just inches wide. 2:0 SCC at the break.
Any hope for the Swiss to get back into the contest were quickly erased by two quick SCC goals to make it 4:0. SCC then took the foot of the gas pedal and allowed the Swiss more possession of the ball. However, neither side was able to find the back of the net again. The only highlight was the silly (but totally justified) sending off of one player on each side. One of the sending offs was applauded by a couple of players of the opposing team, which is not exactly good taste. But the behaviour of one or two players cannot spoil the overall impression that this SCC team makes.
Congratulations to SCC to another title (I know, mathematically, it's not confirmed, but I can't see SCC losing more games this year). The Swiss now need to get back to the form of the first half of the season and start to win some games, otherwise the slide down the rankings will continue.
