The travel gods were not complying this week as 5 of our key starters were absent against the mighty league leaders/defending champs - Sepp, Heinz, Martin, Matt and Michel will have to make it up to us down the stretch.  In anticipation of this depleted squad, Swiss emails were flying around mid-week with various strategies.  In the end it was decided to assign Toffer as the Mooney-shadow.  As a result, Toffer was Man-of-the-Match!  Match started under sunny skies at a great United World College pitch - glad to see my LARGE dollars to UWC put to good use!  After 10 min the Swiss conservative game plan was rewarded as an Urs free kick to the Casuals box edge was flicked beautifully by Thomas F up and over the diving keeper for a surprising 1-0 Swiss lead.  Swiss were playing well and forcing the champs into some bad passes but still had plenty of work keeping them at bay.  Around the 35 min mark the Casuals finally broke through from a quick rebound off a corner kick and 1-1 into halftime.  Casuals came out with many fresh legs and kept up the pressure.  Against the flow, Christian (who animatedly told me he's 18 not 17) received a pass on the left side on the run and beat their keeper for a seemingly 2-1 Swiss lead, but it just grazed the post - such agony!  A later 1 on 1 from Andy could have also put us back up but their keeper did well.  Eventually the Casuals got through on a lobber over an on-coming Bill followed by one more when the Swiss were gambling for the draw and spread thin.  Overall an exciting match with Toffer marking the league scoring leader well and Bill awesome in the nets.  Well done to all in this one!
