Season Ends in Style
n

Last game of the season and the sun came out for the game versus Ubin..

n

A relaxed start to the game from the Reds, the football was pretty and looked dangerous but on 10 mins, the defence sat off the Ubin right back who rather miscued a shot which looped over Dez and in. Within a further 10, Casuals lost Mooney to a torn hamstring when through on goal, Owain with a hangover and allowed a freekick to trickle across the 6 yard box and be turned in on the back post - 0-2 and 2 subs used.. The rot was stopped - not least by Greg moving to sweeper and the vocal motivation of Mal. Tom turned in a cross and then Mal struck a sweet equaliser with his left foot for 2-2 and the sides went in level at the break.

n

Second half and after a few comments showing a lack of sympathy for Owain's hangover, the team was ready for action.

n

After a poor start to the half and the Casuals benefiting from an offside decision, the Reds took over. Ubin appeared to tire and without an obvious outlet, the Reds commandeered possession. Chances came and went before the Ubin defence was caught out by a Greg long throw and club player of the season Tom lobbed the keeper into an unguarded net.. The Reds from here on could have scored a number of goals - Franny who had worked very hard was unable to convert with a couple of the best. Doug scored with a cross before Huw turned in a ball from the right, Jamie also came on and was good to see him back in the side. The gloss was left to Lee who finished off the season in style with a netbuster from the edge of the box.

n

A strong win which led to a good night for the Casuals. A season which the new regime and manager did well to turn round after a bad post Christmas slump. This club does not rejoice in coming second, but signs are there that form and balance is improving - fitness and injuries will need to also improve for next year, but the future appears bright.
