After a sluggish start from an strong looking Ubin team, they soon found themselves a goal down from Nippon’s first attack of the day, although questions have to be asked as to how the referee failed to spot a rather obvious push from a Nippon centre forward that presented him with a simple finish.
From then on Ubin had the majority of possession without ever really looking that threatening. Nippon defended well and picked up a lot of second balls meaning from several promising positions and set pieces Ubin never created many clear cut chances.
Ubin stepped up the urgency in the second half gradually creating more and more clear-cut chances - that went begging. A couple of good saves from the keeper, a couple of glaring misses, and an attempt cleared of the line later and the game finished 1-0.
Credit to Nippon who defended for 90 mins and competed for every ball making it a fruitless afternoon for Ubin.
