Swiss leave it late....
The pitch was extremely difficult to play and both teams had to adapt their style to a kick and rush. Luckily, the bumps were soft, so there was no real danger for the players to get injured.

After a few minutes the teams started to get used to the conditions of the pitch and under the circumstances a decent game developed. OG had the first real chance, but the striker shot just wide. The Swiss then started to assert more pressure and took the game to OG. It looked like it was going to be a question of time when the Swiss would score. But a hatful of chances was wasted. On 33 minutes then finally the breakthrough: Hakim's long ball bounced over the advancing goalkeeper and Zul who was clear through on goal was brought down wrestling-style (or karate?) by the goalkeeper. Penalty for the Swiss and sensible refereeing - a yellow card for the goal keeper. Heinz Steinegger stepped up and coolly converted. That should have brought confidence to the Swiss, but instead of doubling the lead (the chances were there...) OG scored with the last kick of the first half. The Swiss defense cleared a ball, but a couple of defenders did not push up quickly enough and OG punished this sloppy defending. 1:1 at the break.

After the break, the Swiss were again looking the more likely team to score, but the nippy OG forwards always kept the Swiss defense on their toes. With about 12 minutes to play, finally the breakthrough: Heinz Steinegger rifled the ball home after OG could not clear the ball. That, we thought, was it....but not OG, who had other ideas. The referee (or rather the linesman)  controversially awarded OG a penalty kick. We were totally convinced that our defender clearly played the ball, but the linesman saw it otherwise. The OG player stepped up and his heart must have stood still for a moment: his kick went straight towards our new signing in goal, Nick Hughes. From his shin it bounced to his knee and then somehow slowly crossed the line....2:2 and only about 7 minutes to go....

Total pressure now from the Swiss who camped in the OG half. In the last minute of play Heinz Steinegger finally (!) delivered a good corner kick and Simone Bobbia rose to head home. He was especially motivated with his mother among the spectators....Anyway, there was no more time for OG to get back into the game for a third time. Heartbreak for OG. They will certainly collect points if they continue with this level of commitment. The referee had a difficult game with too many meaty tackles (studs first) and two rather aggressive and excited teams, particularly in the second half when things threatened to boil over a few times.

The Swiss will now take a break. With 19 points from the last 7 games we slowly climbed up the ladder and will probably go into 2010 somewhere in the top 5. Considering how many injuries we had during the first half of the season, we can confidently look forward to a good run in 2010.
