Pitch plays its part.
For the first time this season Turf City is looking tired, the pitch was boggy and the earlier downpours had left large puddles all over. Naturally, the purists were not expecting a football extravaganza and they didn't get one. The match was played in a very competitive manner as you would expect, the early honours going to the ISA Lions who tried to use the width and get in behind the Brewerkz defence. A goal eventually came when Bing Bong scored from 18 yards and the keeper was blinded by the sun, yes the low sun played a part in both halves. Brewerkz had a few chances to equalise before the break but a bit of lady luck and poor finishing gave a 1-0 half time scoreline. Overall a gritty performance, no mistakes from a slightly reshaped back four and all looking good for a moral boosting victory....although its only half time!!! The second half was pretty much the same as the first in terms of possesion and chances, albiet the scoring went with the team with the sun behind them and Brewerkz scored a deserved equaliser. Some chances went a begging but the heavy pitch was taking its toll on some tired legs and the game finished 1-1. Much better from ISA Lions, if we stop the mistakes we are worthy of a much higher league position and hey ho its our old sparring partners next week.
