Muddy Battle
 n

Hibs and Casuals lined up on the muddy UWC pitch for an encounter that had changed venues twice during the week due to poor weather causing havoc with pitch conditions. The pitch at UWC was muddy and heavy going.

n

Hibs started brightly and Bastian soon had a one-on-one chance which was well saved by the Casuals keeper. Then, same as last week against Vikings, we conceded 3 goals in fairly rapid succession. We tried to fight back to get back into the game and twice hit the cross bar and once had one scrambled away after a goal-mouth melee. Casuals looked dangerous going forward too and had some good approach play but the conditions made it difficult for both sets of forwards to run with the ball.

HT score : 0 -3

Three changes made a half-time to bring some pace into the back four seemed to improve things for Hibs and we got a penalty after Andrew was hauled to the floor inside the penalty area. Bastian slotted it away. At the 60 mins mark the game was 4-1 and Casuals seemed to step off the gas and made a number of substitutions. Hibs were unable to score any further goals and capitalize. A late goal from Casuals made it 5-1 and another result to forget.

FT score : 1 -5

With games against Ubin and Nippon in the coming two weeks, we need to take the positives out of the game and show some of the fighting spirit that Tom Champion showed leading from the front in his MOM performance.
