We fought hard

The lads were up for this game, after the original match against SCC was rained off in the second half at 1-1 when Rangers were getting a foothold in the game.

We expected SCC to come out and attack us hard from the start just like the last game, but the game actually started a little slower, with SCC taking us a little cautiously.  The first 14-18 minutes were fairly even with both sides playing some decent football, but it was SCC that opened the scoring shortly after.  SCC attacked us through the middle of the park and executed a neat 1-2 on the edge of the box before the SCC player finished coolly.  A few Rangers players still had their hands up for offside, but the linesman correctly ignored the appeals

Rangers picked themselves up and found themselves on equal terms soon after when a mistake at the back left the keeper with a 50-50 with Ozzy, who rounded the keeper and passed the ball across the goal to Kennedy who had an open goal to aim at.

After another period of fairly open play, SCC took the lead again after a Rangers clearance fell to an SCC player at the edge of the box, who buried his shot into the top corner.  A nice goal to be fair, but we were a little slow to close him down.

The second half was a bit of a stop-start affair, with Ganesan taking the whistle out of his mouth only to gasp for breath.  Still, it was his next whistle that surprised most of the crowd after an almost certain penalty claim for Rangers ended up in a free kick to SCC and a caution for our player.  It could have been worse too, as our player reacted angrily and the expletives could have warranted further reprimand, however Ganesan decided that yellow was more appropriate.

This was probably the turning point of the match for us, considering Gura was already waiting at the penalty spot waiting for the ball.  We never really recovered from that and two mistakes at the back gifted SCC with another two goals to make the score-line a little more unflattering.

Man of the match goes to Joaquin who played solidly at right-back and did a great job covering Craig’s position.
