Happy Start to Red's New Year

A sunny but relatively cool day at a grassy UWC for the game versus the Swiss.

n

The game began and Casuals were quickly into their running and within 10 mins Franny created a chance for the returning Mooney to finish and the Reds were ahead.  Casuals good play continued for 25 mins where the Casuals, possibly tiring in the first game for a month struggled to hold possession and Swiss pressure led to an equaliser..  This spurred the Reds on and an attack led to Franny being brought down and Mooney converted the pen for a 2-1 lead at the break.

n

Second half and the Swiss pressed for an equaliser, the Casuals thankful to their defence holding firm in an increasingly niggly second half and Dez looking solid in goal.  The lead was a tenuous one until with 10 mins to go, Marc who was a threat when he came on, played in Mooney from halfway to complete his hat-trick and the win was secured.  In the final minute Phil played in Marc for a fourth to give the scoreline more gloss than it deserved.

n

A result which was much needed for Casuals and was pleasing to beat such difficult opposition but the Reds are under no illusions that the scoreline flattered us.
