GAS Ubin 2 3
 n

Even though we have written a couple of “fine” match reports before, this is the first GAS match report ever we have to pay a fine due to late submission. The last time I had to pay a fine for submitting a report too late was 1988 when I was still living in Karl-Marx-Stadt and still had my side job as Stasi-IM “Erzgebirge”. By that time we were trying to gather more tactical and ideological information about the imperialistically influenced Football Clubs Rot-Weiss-Erfurt and Kali-Werra-Tiefenort. It did not work out and the same way went last Saturday’s COSMO game against the “Sylt of Singapore” – Pulau Ubin.

n

The German team was prepped up having won 4 in a row and including the numerous Support-Beauties on the sideline, everybody was under the impression this could be another win. All warnings became true that Ubin would be a very tough nut to crack and the far too small Henderson Secondary Pitch certainly also provided its contribution. Most of the first half action saw the 2 goal keepers kicking the ball from one goal to the other and trying to score. After about 20 Minutes they decided to also give the field players a run and we have to say it was Ubin who was the more determined team on that day. After a nice free kick it was 1-0 to Ubin and the German Tanks were licking their wounds. Good to have a true Number 10 around in this situation and so Philatio von Pein (Good Old German Football-Adel) made it 1-1 with a trick he must have learned behind closed doors, as he first bicycle-kicked himself into the box for then to nicely smash it home with both shin pads. So it was 1-1 and the game open.

n

In the second half the German Coach made some changes, but it did not change the picture. The Germans were fighting – no doubt, but Pulau Ubin had this little bit of more eagerness and aggressiveness on that day, which makes the difference. So they went 3-1 up only for the German tanks to pull one back 2 minutes before the end through a nice shot by Ronny Nockerl.

n

The game was over and no complaints to the Mannschaft, as everybody tried its best but it was not meant to be. Compliment to Pulau Ubin for a well fought and played game.

n

Now – German Eagles: Heads up high for the Plate Cup final on June 5th. Due to another secret mission in East Germany, I unfortunately won’t be able to join you but rest asure the stand in coach will bring all the tactical skills and the heart to win. Stay tuned and go get the cup Eagles!
