GAS Line-up:
Thomas, Marcus (Philipp), Rino, Johannes, Sascha, Heiko, Kerim (Joerg F.), Cyrill (Florian), Chris, Michael, Volker (Mike)
Looking solid on the paper we thought we had a shot at those three points.
A few changes in the lineup were necessary as our goalie stronghold Zafer was out as well as our regular defense with Steffen out of town and Andree still injured.
Thomas took over as goalie while Johannes, Marcus and Rino formed our defensive line. Sascha, Heiko, Kerim and Cyrill were in midfield - Chris, Michael and Volker were supposed to deliver something offensively.
The game started with the Vikings taking control right away putting the German midfield under strong pressure. GAS was obviously not ready for this kind of game and so the first goal was a logical consequence. Only three minutes into the game it was already 1-0 when the Vikings striker took advantage of a misunderstanding in the GAS defense.
GAS had the chance to equalize right after that, but Volker missed from short range on a nice cross from Michael. Volker had another good opportunity a few minutes later, but missed yet again. Sadly, those two chances were pretty much the only clear opportunities throughout the whole game which underlines our level of threat in that game.
The Vikings kept up their aggression and continued to dominate midfield and could have scored on a couple of chances. But they didn't and so we thought by stepping up our defensive efforts and taking on challenges in the second half, we should have a chance to get back into the game.
However, we didn't and so the Vikings managed to score two more goals - GAS didn't score at all!
Pretty disappointing and we wasted a huge chance to re-position ourselves in the table!
The Vikings proved to be stronger and more committed so the result reflects the course of the game!
Good win, Vikings!
