Line Up: Hughes – Valseechi (Ho) - Jankowski – Warreing – Erba – Dambre (Minorikawa) - Moccelin (Lacour) – Diaz – Dotta – Lucio (Jelik) – Magaud
Overall a good and solid performance from the Latin Warriors, working hard, playing nice football and good movement from the players Although we could have and should have made the score and game more comfortable in the second half.
We started well, playing good football with a lot of pace and were in control of the game. We were putting early pressure on the Rangers defence and midfield and subsequently winning the ball early with good movement in front and down the wings we were able to create space and chances moving forward. A few nice shots and nice moves through midfield made the Rangers goalie work. Eventually it would be Magaud who got on the scoresheet, our midfield winning the ball early, a few quick passes that released Magaud who managed to finish off in style as usual. 1:0 up for the Latin warriors.
We continued to work and put pressure on our opponents and went up with a 2nd goal from Adrien. This seemed to make us relax and shift down 1 gear similarly it seemed to wake up the Rangers. Our game slowed down, we stopped pressing as a unit and this gave Rangers midfield and defence more time to play the ball out of defence. Rangers were starting to get into the game. We neglected to pick up one of their midfielders who broke through our midfield and defence and finished off 2:1 and game on.
Rangers finished the half stronger with more possession and controlled passing, however without really threatening the Latini goal. Our defence was solid throughout the game.
Second half and we talked about being more committed and continuing to exert pressure on the Rangers midfield and defence. We started straight from the kickoff with a wonderful passing move down the right flank and great run from Yann into the Rangers box, unfortunately he could quite get the ball out of his feet to finish off what would have been a great team goal. In the second half Latini dominated most of the proceedings on the pitch. We passed the ball well, made some nice runs from midfield and created a handful of good chance to extend our lead and make it more comfortable. One of the chances falling to myself but with no-left foot it was finished with a tame shoot from within the box that was not able to trouble the Rangers goalie. This seemed to be the case for our game in the second half - unfortunately the final ball, shot or header was off target or met by an inform keeper. However, our defence was solid and I cannot remember Nick having to make a save throughout he second half.
Once again a good team performance throughout the game, some good football going forward, some solid defending and overall looking in control. However at 2:1 there was always a little danger lurking and it would be nice to ensure our dominance on the pitch results in some goals.
Man of the match is a tough one a good game from myself in the second half, Olive Lacour did well as usual, Yann had a number of good moments but I think it was our defence that stood out for most of the game as being very solid, united and working hard. Darren and Gaetan are a real solid force in the centre of our defence but my man of the match goes to Raffa who has delivered some great performances since joining Latini and deserves full credit for his play.
Next week Hotspurs…another test of character to see whether we can continue to challenge the teams at the top…it will be a good game.
