Swiss Cup run ends early...
After reaching the Cup Final last season, there will be no repeat of that feat this year. The Swiss fell at the first hurdle against Brewerkz.

The game was played on the "new" ITE Simei, which needs some rain and then be rolled, but otherwise it's a much improved pitch and it's good to play there again.

Brewerkz had the better start, but the Swiss took the early lead when Christian Schulthess clinically finished off a Michel Keiser pass. That lifted the Swiss players and for most of the first half it was a very evenly balanced contest, however both sides could not create too many clear cut chances. Brewerkz did equalize when their pacy forward had it far too easy to turn the Swiss defender and his shot surprised Riduan at the near post. 1:1 at the break.

The second half was again quite balanced, but Brewerkz took two early half chances to score twice. On the first goal I somehow managed to miss the ball and on the other occasion we needlessly gave away the ball in midfield and a quick pass through the centre of the defense and 3:1 Brewerkz. But the Swiss put in a good fight and Norman Buerzle's scintillating run on the right flank was converted coolly by (who else?) Christian Schultess. 3:2 and still about 15 minutes to go. The Swiss now pushed more players forward, but were not able to put constant pressure on the Brewerkz defenders who held on for a 3:2 win.

The Swiss can take away from this game that even with a much depleted squad we can play good football. All players involved put up a good fight and the spirit in the team was very positive. Hopefully we can carry this spirit into the next few league games and continue to climb up the ladder.
