7 goals for the Brewerkz
The Brewerkz looked forward to this match against a much improved Nippon side, who already have 10 points on the board this season. The final score was 7 - 2 to Brewerkz, but the Nippon side impressed throughout the game with their quick and intricate passing.
Brewerkz quickly found ourselves 2-0 up with goals from Yazid (Assist by Kelly) and
Bright (again, a fine Kelly assist). Scoring the first goal has been a problem for us this season, so a good start, however, the 2-0 score line was not reflective of the competitive nature of the match. The Nippon loaded the midfield with defenders pushing up and wingers tucking in, which was making it tough for the Brewerkz to know who to mark in midfield. The Nippon got their reward with a fine long range goal. 2-1.
Kelly made it 3-1 before half-time to give us some breathing space, but the half time talk was all business as the Nippon looked strong going forward.
The Brewerkz half-time talk was about getting control of midfield and better tracking of off the ball running. We had much better control of the second half and ended up adding 4 more goals. Two goals from Bright and Yazid gave them both well deserved hat-tricks.

The Brewerkz had a few players drop out on the morning of the match, leaving us with a thin squad of 13 players. In the second half, we had the luxury of bringing on two players, with a combined age of 96 players, the ever green Fulvio and Kevin McCormick.

It was great to see Fulvio flying down the left wing knocking in crosses and McCormick Senior getting a great assist with a near post dummy, which led to Yazid's 6th goal.

McCormick Junior (Phil) was celebrating his 17th B'day and put in a fine performance on the right wing, two assists , could have been more.

Some solid performances across the pitch, Thomas returning in Midfield to partner Chris, both kept the ball flowing forward. Matt and Julien had excellent games in the heart of defense. The hat-tricks by Yazid and Bright speak for themselves. Man-of-match has to go to young Phil McCormick for a quality display on the right, summed up by a fine 40-yard through ball to Yazid for the final goal of the game.

Excellent job by the referee and thanks to the Nippon for a good game of football. We are sure you lads will go on to win many games this season. The manner in which the Nippon goes about playing football is a credit to the league.
